Somehow convert something organic into different forms of energy.
Turn the shadows of a goldfish into sound. Shine a light on the fish tank, with photodiodes, convert the shadow of the fish into sound. There will be a grid of photo diodes. When the fish swims up it increases amplification. When the fish swims to the side, it will change pitch. Do the same thing with ants in an ant farm.
Have random strangers draw a picture of me in a notepad. Compile pictures to create some sort of composition.
Create an instrument that uses feedback. A box with a piano string going through the middle. Inside the box is a pickup and a speaker. The resonating string creates a variable tonal feedback loop.
somehow make a fish control the pitch on a thermin.
create a collage of radio stations mixed with different bird calls.
Create some sort of piece using a random google street view generator.
Circuit bend a small plug n play video game. Create visual noise.

Plug guitar into very small speaker, using a microphone and recording small speaker into a loud speaker cabinet.
Compile video images of fishtanks.
put a vhs or cassette tape in the microwave for a few seconds.

Assignment 2
I find Bush's predictions about the future to be very well thought out and surprisingly accurate. He uses evidence from the past in order to make his assumptions in which I find relevance to today. I believe that by examining past inovations, you can predict what may come next. Also, I believe that alot of modern day innovations are inspired by people's visions of what may come next.
More and more, technology is becoming integrated into our lives. I strongly believe that technology will merge with biology. I think we will be completely one with technology in ways science fiction portrays it. I strongly believe that telekinesis will become possible. Today, scientists are able to harness the power of our brainwaves to perform very basic functions. I remember when I was a kid seeing a kit you could buy that uses brainwaves to make a foam ball go through an obstacle course. I believe in the future we will be able to do much more with our minds.
I believe that telepathy will be possible. I think the social networks of the future will all take place in our brains. There will be a map of every synapse that takes place in our brains that will be used to access a database 100 times larger than the internet today. Instead of making phone calls, you will be able to tap into the brains of others. Music, reading, and movie watching will be an instantaneous process. We will be able to read millions of books in a matter of seconds. The way Bush describes the encyclopedia as a small chip is how I see the future of reading. Except that small chip is as large as a few cells that can hold every book written.
I think technology will allow us to become one with the machine. Not only will we have quadrupled the speed and efficiency of our brains, I believe our bodies will become less organic. I believe that our physical apperance will be able to be altered through the use of genetics. I believe that our life spans will increase dramatically and aging will be a thing of the past. There is a billionaire in Russia who is using his money to make himself "immortal". He wants to somehow turn his knowledge and personality into a digital avatar that is as lifelike as possible. I believe that when people die, there will be a avatar in his or her place.

Assignment 1
Solarduo Project by Koray Tahiroglu and Lyytikainen

Two artists came up with the idea to create sound using light. Through the use of a calculator solar panel, they create rich sound structures through the use of analog and digital components. I am interested in sound experimentation as well as electronics. This piece raises the question of what does visible light sound like, and it also raises the question as to what other forms of energy can be converted to audible sound.

This project involves newer forms of generating sustainable energy. It uses hacked Heely's shoes to generate electricity while also encouraging the wearer to go outside and play. I am interested in sustainable energy and how simple everyday motions such as walking can be converted to electricty. This project raises the question of how can the energy in simple actions such as walking be harnessed. Also, it raises the question as to how can everyday excercise improve our lives in ways we may not have thought of.

In this piece, four buckets are susepended by piano strings. Each bucker contains a certain amount of water that determines the tension on the piano strings. On the top of each string is a motor with a piece of wire that hits the piano string once every rotation. The result is a natural sound, similar to cicadas and crickets. This project interests me because it is the orchestration of sound to emulate nature. Also, I find the use of the bucket to determine pitch and amplification is interesting. This project raises the question as to how regular objects can be used to amplify sound. Also, it raises the question of how can small creatures like the cicada create such loud and harmonic sound.
